There is something magical about a solid block of teakwood hovering flush against a wall with no visible support. It feels light, clean, and defy gravity. But behind this minimalist aesthetic lies a rigorous exercise in structural engineering. A floating shelf is only as good as the hardware that holds it.
To achieve a true "floating" look that can support real weight—like heavy books and art—we utilize a two-part system:
- Heavy-Duty Steel Brackets: We source custom-fabricated steel backplates with solid support rods. These rods are engineered to handle leverage and downward forces without bending or sagging.
- Precision Internal Routing: Using our precision cutters, we carve out a deep, exact channel in the back of the solid timber shelf. The channel is routed to the exact millimeter of the steel plate, allowing the metal bracket to sink completely inside the wood.
